Why am I still single? I hear this question over and over. And the funny thing is, the people who are asking me, are decent looking, have good jobs, smart, funny and everything else that makes up for good qualities. So why are they still single?
To Picky
One of the things I notice most when people ask me this question is that they tend to be very picky in what the want in a relationship. I’m not saying this is a bad thing. It just makes it more difficult, if not impossible to meet the right person. Not tall enough, not good looking enough, doesn’t make enough money, wears jean shorts and so on. One box gets left unchecked and they are crossed off the list.
Well, that would explain a lot. People are quiet complicated. When we meet someone we like it might be a good idea to prioritize your list with the important stuff at the top. A friend once told me that women are crazy, you just need to find a crazy that you can live with. Well, I had to laugh. And being a women, I think he might be right. Finding a perfect man is sure to be impossible. Finding a man with imperfections that you can live with is certainty going to be much easier.
Don’t Know Where To Meet People
Some of my friends that complain about being single never go anywhere. To be honest, these people are usually the ones who don’t drink and are not interested in going out to bars to find the love of their life. I can’t blame them there! It’s a bad idea. There are a whole lot of people in the same boat. So how can these people find each other?

Join a club
Take a class
Online dating service
Attracted To The Wrong Type
Some people are just attracted to the wrong type of person. Have you ever been to a party and right away spotted the guy or girl that is the life of the party? You are instantly in love. And why not? They have a great sense of humor, they smile a lot, they are confident. Some people will find out later on in the relationship that these are the same exact qualities that break the relationship apart. I year later…your at a party, you girlfriend or boyfriend is having fun, they are the life of the party. With a crowd standing around them, getting all the flirty attention. Suddenly you feel left out or threatened.
So along with finding a way to get out and meet people, try lowering your standards a little. Maybe the fact that his shirt is a little wrinkly isn’t that big of a deal. You can probably let that one slide. Maybe the fact that she lives in a gated community and getting past the guard is a big hassle, she might be worth it.
