Sexuality – Gays
In today’s society, people are becoming less reluctant to accept those with different preferences of sexuality such as gays and lesbians, and this is a massive step forward from times that have passed where homosexuality was considered to be a mental disorder and people were sectioned for admitting their sexuality. Hostility was shown to those that had a different sexuality than what was considered to be normal.
There are many stereotypes attached to the sexuality such as gays these days from the way that they speak to the way that they dress and everything in between and it is also reported that these people who claim to be of gay sexuality lead a promiscuous lifestyle which is a ridiculous statement to make to group such a wide and diverse number of people!
Gay marriage rights have recently been broadcasted over every media outlet known to man and in specific, the reluctance of certain countries and cultures to accept these same sex marriages. Even though the gay community are now being met with slightly less in the way of discrimination as it once was, the topic of gay ceremonies are still causing an uproar in many places and civilizations and it many countries is still not classed as legal practice for two men to be wed in holy matrimony.
The sexual orientation of one specific person should not actually have any bearing on the way that they lead their lives but for many people, coming out of the closet and openly admitting to their preference of sexuality can potentially be a life breaker and even though it is highly illegal to discriminate against a person because of these reasons, the gay community are still finding themselves neglected with regards to high ranking promotions and other such events. These stories are not widely broadcasted but have been known to happen, and this is just as terrible as discriminating against somebody with a serious illness and other such conditions. It is wrong and illegal but somewhere, somehow, these events keep happening.
It has been noted by many of the gay community that coming out and being open about their sexual preferences is now considered to be a lot easier than what it was a few years ago, but even still they are met by a wide range of opinions and questions which can cause many people to stay as closed as they can about their sexuality for a long time.
Even though the gay community is coming out thick and fast, bearing all and not minding who cares, there is still wide spread criticism about the way in which they choose to live their lives and are still met by hostility from some people. The allegations that they are all promiscuous and spread the disease of AIDS and HIV is still rife even though these have been widely dimmed by clinical studies and such like that are proving these statements to be incorrect. However, gay communities all over the world are being met by such cruel jibes that many are choosing to keep their sexuality a secret from their friends and family for fear of what they may think.
